Breastfeeding Groups In Your Area

At Breastfeeding Together we support mums at Wigan hospital (Royal Albert Edward Infirmary) and mums who live within the Wigan borough at home until their babies are around six weeks old. After six weeks most of our support takes place at our breastfeeding support groups in the community.

Lots of breastfeeding mums in Wigan attend groups for a range of reasons – from getting baby weighed and seeking support with feeding issues, to chatting with mums in the same boat and having a brew or biscuit. We have groups all over the Wigan borough – from Astley to Standish – check out what’s available at your local group below.

Monday – Ashton Breastfeeding Group

11.30am – 1pm

Ashton Library, Wigan Road, Wigan, WN4 9BH

  • Arts and crafts
  • Tea/coffee/juice (and sometimes cake – for the extra 500 calories you need while feeding)
  • Toys and books – older children welcome (whether they were/are breastfed or not, we don’t mind)
  • Bring lunch if you like
  • Trained peer supporters on hand to answer questions

 

Monday – Beech Hill Link Site

1pm – 2.30pm

Netherby Road, Beech Hill, Wigan, WN6 7PT

  • Arts and crafts
  • Juice (and sometimes cake – for the extra 500 calories you need while feeding)
  • Toys and books – older children welcome (whether they were/are breastfed or not, we don’t mind)

Tuesday – Atherton Breastfeeding Group

10.30am – 12noon

  • Baby weighing*
  • Tongue tie referral*
  • Health visitor*
  • Arts and crafts
  • Juice (and sometimes cake – for the extra 500 calories you need while feeding)
  • Toys and books – older children welcome (whether they were/are breastfed or not, we don’t mind)
  • Trained peer supporters on hand to answer questions

Wednesday – Golborne Children’s Centre

9.30am – 11am
