Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme
At Breastfeeding Together, we want to do everything we can to help mums/parents feel more comfortable to breastfeed when they are out and about as we recognise many may feel nervous. We also want to give businesses and venues all the information and support they may need in creating a Breastfeeding Friendly environment – that’s why we feel so passionate about our Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme.
The aims of our Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme are:
- To encourage breastfeeding families to continue to enjoy going out and about with their new babies.
- To ensure businesses/venues have the information they need to make breastfeeding families feel welcome and comfortable.
- To help new mums/parents give their babies the best possible start in life by continued breastfeeding.
- To raise the profile of breastfeeding support across the UK.

Frequently asked questions about our Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme for Businesses/Venues
What are the benefits for my business/venue?
It’s a brilliant way to promote and advertise your business/venue. You will be listed on our website’s interactive map and the scheme will be promoted through our social media platforms and support groups. You are also helping to normalise, promote and protect breastfeeding and empower families to continue in the feeding choice that’s right for them, improving their lives and health outcomes now and in the future – making breastfeeding families more likely to use your business/venue and spread the word about you!
What if I run activities in lots of different venues or do not have any public premises?
Don’t worry, you can still sign your business up to our Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme. This shows that you and your business welcome and support breastfeeding. This is a great option if you run a group – for example baby yoga, music, massage class or virtual group.
Is there a cost to sign up to our Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme?
There is a small cost to join our Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme of just £15 per annum! For this fee you will receive a digital logo and welcome pack via email from Breastfeeding Together with key information, a Breastfeeding Friendly certificate, policy, printable posters and frequently asked questions sheet. Breastfeeding Together will also provide you with any information, advice and support you may need and be able to answer any questions you may have. Your business/venue will also be promoted as Breastfeeding Friendly for the next 12 months on our website’s interactive map and the scheme will be promoted via our Social Media platforms and Support Groups.
What happens at the end of my 12 month sign up?
We will then contact you around a month before your renewal date to see if you’d like to remain as a Breastfeeding Friendly business/venue. If you choose not to renew, or we can’t contact you after the 12 months is up, we will then remove your business/venue from the interactive map and no longer advertise you as a Breastfeeding Friendly business/venue.
Does my business/venue need to have any training to be part of the scheme?
No, it isn’t required and your Welcome Pack will provide you with all the information you need. We do however offer Breastfeeding Awareness Training for Businesses. Our interactive online training will give you a greater knowledge of the benefits of breastfeeding and how to support families who access your business/venue. If you would like further information regarding training, please email – email@example.com
