Fantastic service. Every volunteer I’ve met has been so lovely and so helpful, it really makes a difference in the early days and great for advice later on in the breastfeeding journey too! Amazing volunteers who help so many mums and babies!
I recently gave birth to my daughter and through out my pregnancy I knew I wanted to breastfeed. First I attended the breastfeeding class to get more of an understanding what it will entail. The class was extremely informative and answered all my questions which was really helpful for when my little one arrived as I was able to feed my baby with no issue.
However, Day 4 of breastfeeding this all changed as one night my baby fed every 20 minutes for 6 hours which was relentless and painful. That night I told my partner I cannot breastfeed anymore and I was giving up. He told me to get in touch with the support group before I make my decision as they maybe able to help.
An invaluable service which were a massive help to me in establishing my BF journey, without who I would been lost.
The endless channels of support, from help on the ward, home visits and then the continued guidance at groups. It was a massive relief to have such wonderful ladies relate and understand my hurdles and be available with no judgement! I’ve met some lovely people at the BF groups too.
I will be forever grateful and recommend your group to all new mummies!
This service is just fantastic! Through pregnancy, to support in hospital and home visits, having the support and guidence from the peer supporters is brilliant. Breastfeeding was something I wanted to try this time around and finding out about the support on offer from Breastfeeding Together has been invaluable! I would definatly recommend the breastfeeding workshops to all mums who are thinking of breadfeeding! Thanks to the continued support from Breastfeeding Together I have been breastfeeding for 3weeks now and it is going really well for both me and my little boy
This service is just amazing and totally invaluable! I had some difficulties breastfeeding after my son was born due to a tongue tie that went unnoticed by the midwives and my doctor. Thankfully my breastfeeding support worker noticed the issue and helped us get sorted from there. They made regular drop ins to check we were doing okay and I’m happy to say that as a result of this service my baby was exclusively breastfed until we introduced solids at 6months. We continued to breastfeed until he was 18 months along side his usual meals and it was the most amazing experience. I don’t think you realise just how close a bond breastfeeding gives you until you stop and I’m so thankful that this service gave me the ability to experience it. Give the upset we had at the start I can say that without the help of this service I don’t think I would have been able to breastfeed as no one else seemed able to help me. Also the breastfeeding groups and the fundraisers are great fun and a good way to meet new people. Thank you so much, you guys are amazing
